Mary’s Workshops
It doesn’t take more than a few minutes in one of Mary’s workshops to
experience her warmth and love of working with groups. She seems to have
the natural ability to draw people out, and make each individual feel
heard and catered for and yet be part of the group and to feel safe.
Mary has over 30 years experience practicing and teaching yoga, and is
used to adapting the yoga component of her workshops to suit all
abilities – so there is no need to worry if you have no previous
experience of yoga – you will not be asked to sit in the lotus position
or stand on your head! All she asks is that if you have a medical
condition that might adversely be affected by yoga (such as high blood
pressure) you check beforehand with your doctor and inform her prior to
the workshop.
What to expect on the workshops
The Enneagram workshops address how personality impacts on the body as
well as the mind and spirit. You will learn about the nine types of the
enneagram, including your own type, and yoga postures that help balance
the types, and enhance the flow of energy in the meridians. Her
‘seasonal series’ of workshops (currently held in Bristol, UK in 2006/7,
see below) focus on how the seasons affect us, and how we can utilize
energy that arises naturally at different times of year to maximize our
full potential.
Yoga for the Chakras workshops show in a highly practical way how you
may rebalance your chakras – spinning vortices of radiant energy in your
body that affect everything you think, say or do. Through yoga postures,
meditation and insights you will learn how to achieve and maintain
physical, mental, emotional and spiritual balance.
WriteSpace workshops are a magical combination of creative writing with
yoga and meditation that help you to write from a deeper space within.
You will learn different techniques to silence the inner critic and
trust your voice. Each day begins with early morning yoga, continues
with time to write in silence between breakfast and lunch, enjoy an
afternoon walk, take part in writing exercises, and complete the day
after dinner by sharing your writing with the group in a supportive,
peaceful atmosphere.
All Mary’s workshops contain a yoga and meditation component, exercises
where you work in pairs or small groups, time for reflection as well as
sharing, enabling people to gain insight on their lives and situations.
Her guided deep relaxation exercises are often claimed to be the
highlight of her workshops and are an especial treat.
Mary is concentrating on her writing these days, but is always willing
to run workshops or courses by invitation anywhere in the world within
reason. She has special rates for third world/developing countries or
charity groups.
The workshops below are an
example, but she is also happy to tailor make a workshop to suit the
needs of your group.
“The Nine Types of the
Enneagram” teaches the basics about the Enneagram system: The nine
personality types and how they affect the body as well as mind and
spirit. Very illuminating on a personal level and a means to greater
understanding of friends, family and colleagues.
(An evening, full day and
morning.)
“Yoga for the Nine Types of
the Enneagram” is for people who already have a little knowledge
about the enneagram. It is suitable for people who want to learn how to
work on their type with yoga and learn about supportive lifestyle
changes they could make. An excellent follow-on workshop from he one
above, or it can be preceded by a one-day brief introduction to the
types.
(An evening, full day, and
morning.)
“Yoga for the Chakras”
introduces the seven main chakras and how they affect us on all levels.
These spinning vortices of radiant energy influence everything you
think, say or do. Through yoga postures, meditations and practical
suggestions how to support and balance them you will learn how to
achieve and maintain physical, mental and emotional spiritual balance.
An evening and two full days

One day 10 – 4 (for people with
